Grand Seiko has a reputation for drawing inspiration from nature when designing its dials, sometimes to the point of being a meme. Each release is paired with a detailed story about a specific natural event, often far-fetched, just before, they released a cherry blossom inspired but there’s no denying the beauty of the dials. One standout is the Sakura-Kakushi, inspired by early cherry blossoms covered in snow. Previous versions featured soft pink tones, but the latest model, the SBGH368, brings a lighter shade contrasting with its 18K rose gold 62GS case.

While the new Sakura-Kakushi resembles the well-known SBGA413 Shunbun, it comes in a more compact case. It measures 38mm in diameter, 12.9mm in thickness (including the crystal), and has a 44.7mm lug-to-lug length. The case maintains its signature faceted lugs with blunt tips, and the sapphire crystal extends to the edge, leaving almost no bezel. The highlight, of course, is the polished 18K rose gold case, which still offers 100 meters of water resistance.

The dial retains the texture of previous Sakura-Kakushi versions but shifts to a silver-cream white tone. The applied hour markers and dauphine-style hands are crafted from matching rose gold, adding warmth to the design. A gold-framed date window sits at 3 o’clock.

Under the hood, the SBGH368 runs on the high-beat Calibre 9S85, unchanged from its predecessors. Operating at 5Hz, it provides a 55-hour power reserve and an accuracy rating of +5/-3 seconds per day. The watch is paired with a brown crocodile leather strap, secured with a gold clasp.

Set for release in April, the Grand Seiko Sakura-Kakushi 18K Rose Gold 62GS, SBGH368, is one of the priciest 62GS models, priced at €37,500. More details are available on the Grand Seiko website.
