Strap Recommendations For Marine Nationale Watch

Tudor‘s Marine Nationale Watch is one of the most notable collaborations in creating diving watches for the French Marine Nationale, resulting in some of Tudor’s most striking mil-spec models. Since then, it has expanded to include several other models. Today, Tudor returns to its roots with another Marine Nationale, introducing a pilot’s GMT watch dedicated to the French Naval Aviation instead of a dive watch.

Introducing the Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time, Tudor’s second official Marine Nationale watch. This new addition caters to the needs of French Naval Aviation pilots, while the previous blue FXD model was designed for the Navy’s combat swimmers. This release marks a first for the FXD collection and the Pelagos line, featuring a military pilot’s watch with a GMT function.

This Marine Nationale watch showcases its military roots with a titanium case, linking it to the Pelagos series while introducing a long-awaited travel feature. The 42 mm diameter and 12.7 mm thickness are crafted from grade 2 titanium, with a grade 5 titanium case back. Its fully brushed finish delivers the expected tool-watch look. For durability, fixed lug bars are machined into the case, a key design element of the FXD collection. These bars extend the lugs, defining the model’s unique silhouette

The case follows the classic Tudor FXD style, with a screw-down crown, screwed case-back, flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and 200m water resistance. The back is engraved with “M.N.24” for “Marine Nationale 2024.”

The new Marine Nationale watch pays tribute to history with a green strap. Traditionally, the French Navy received Tudor watches without straps and used their own, often green parachute belts. This time, the strap color matches the flight suits worn by French Naval Aviation pilots.
