Omega Introduces Exquisite Speedmaster Calibre 321 Platinum

Just then, Omega was a major sponsor of the Summer Olympics, where it launched several Olympic-themed models. Now, Omega brought back the legendary Calibre 321, the same Speedmaster movement that travelled to the moon. It first appeared in the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch 321, a platinum model with a leather strap and sub-dials made from lunar meteorite. Now, Omega has introduced a striking new version with Speedmaster Calibre 321 platinum.

This isn’t the first time Omega has released a platinum Speedmaster with the 321 movement. In 2019, a similar version was launched, but only on a leather strap.

The latest model takes it further with a full platinum construction, which must give it substantial weight. The Speedmaster Calibre 321 Platinum retains the classic Moonwatch case design with lyre lugs, asymmetrical construction, and familiar dimensions—42mm wide, 13.4mm thick, and a 47.6mm lug-to-lug. Instead of pure platinum, the case is made from platinum (Pt950) and gold (Au20) alloy. It has sapphire crystals on both sides, a black ceramic bezel insert with a white enamel tachymeter scale, and 50 meters of water resistance—though it’s unlikely this watch will ever see much time in the water.

The dial remains mostly unchanged, featuring a black base with polished white gold hands, applied markers, and the Omega logo. The three sub-dials—30-minute totalizer, 12-hour totalizer, and running seconds—are crafted from actual lunar meteorites and surrounded by white gold rings.

Powering the watch is the Calibre 321, a faithful recreation of the vintage Omega chronograph movement used in the Apollo-era Speedmasters. It operates with a column wheel and horizontal clutch, running at 2.5Hz with a 55-hour power reserve. The movement is decorated in a vintage style, featuring a Sedna gold PVD coating. The biggest update is the striking bracelet, crafted from the same platinum and gold alloy, maintaining the flat-link design seen on other Calibre 321 models.
