The Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer is one of those watches that may leave enthusiasts wondering about its purpose. While Omega has had strong releases recently, not every model can be a hit.
Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer
The Planet Ocean series is Omega’s most extreme dive watch collection, designed for serious underwater performance. While the standard Seamaster offers 300 meters of water resistance, the Planet Ocean starts at 600 meters and goes even deeper.

To incorporate this function, Omega made the watch even larger. Crafted from black ceramic zirconium oxide, the case measures 45.5mm in width and a staggering 18.99mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug length of 52.4mm. While ceramic helps reduce weight, the sheer bulk remains unavoidable.

Despite the added complexity, the watch retains signature Planet Ocean features like the twisted lyre lugs and helium escape valve. A domed sapphire crystal sits atop the case, surrounded by a black ceramic bezel with a laser-ablated diving scale polished in positive relief. The water resistance remains at 600 meters.

Two versions of Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer are available: one features a grey varnish dial with polished black PVD-coated hands and indexes filled with Omega’s grey Super-LumiNova; the other has turquoise accents with brushed grey PVD-coated hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova.

Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer function includes an outer city ring in contrasting colors (black and grey or turquoise), an hour chapter ring with a honeycomb pattern and black DLC coating, and a 24-hour indicator divided into black and white sections to distinguish night from day. At the center, a world map made of grade 5 titanium, finished with varnish and laser ablation, provides a striking view of the continents from the North Pole. A date window is positioned at 6 o’clock.

Powering the watch is the Omega Calibre 8938, the same movement used in the Aqua Terra Worldtimer. It operates at 3.5Hz, offers a 60-hour power reserve, and meets METAS Master Chronometer certification standards. The watch comes on a black rubber strap with either grey or turquoise rubber lining and stitching, secured by a foldover clasp made of brushed ceramic and ceramized titanium.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer is now part of the regular collection, but it stands out in every way. Priced at €16,300, it is available for purchase through Omega.
Strap Recommendations For The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer
For The Turquoise Dial
The Turquoise Alligator strap perfectly complements the turquoise accents on the dial. This strap is an excellent choice for casual wear, summer outfits, or adding a fresh pop of color to monochrome ensembles.

For The Black Dial
The Dark Grey Ostrich Leather Watch Strap offers a subtle yet striking alternative for the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer.
