It is inspired by early 20th-century LV steamer trunks, with lugs that resemble riveted brass brackets found on those trunks. The case combines a brushed middle with polished tops and bottoms, including a polished bezel.

Dial

The dial is even more impressive than the case. It uses a solid gold disc with a raised lip to hold the enamel, which is engraved on a hand-operated rose engine to create a captivating radial guilloché pattern. The champlevé technique is used to apply enamel into the recessed cells. The dial features enamel on both sides; the counter enamel on the back prevents distortion during firing. The dial is then polished with diamond paste for a shiny finish. After this, holes are burned into the dial for the riveted white gold hour markers positioned at the quarters. The hands are crafted from white gold in a faceted dauphine shape, with the central second hand made of titanium.

Power

Inside the Louis Vuitton Platinum Escale is the caliber LFT023 automatic movement, which includes an off-centered 22k gold micro-rotor. Designed by Louis Vuitton’s La Fabrique du Temps and produced by Le Cercle des Horlogers, it has received Geneva Observatory chronometer certification. The movement operates at 4Hz and offers a 50-hour power reserve.
