Grand Seiko Sekki 62GS ‘Rikka’ And ‘Shubun’ Stunning Seasonal Designs

The Grand Seiko Sekki collection continues the brand’s tradition of drawing inspiration from nature, with many models reflecting the beauty of the landscapes near its workshops. One standout series within this collection celebrated the four seasons, featuring the SBGA413 Shunbun (spring) and SBGA415 Taisetsu (winter), which gained significant recognition. Meanwhile, the SBGH271 Rikka (summer) and SBGH273 Shūbun (autumn) were somewhat overlooked. Now, Grand Seiko is revisiting these two with updated versions: the Rikka SBGH351 and Shūbun SBGH353.

Grand Seiko Sekki, Rikka and Shubun

The changes are subtle but meaningful. Both watches feature a 40mm-wide, 12.9mm-thick case with a 47mm lug-to-lug measurement. They belong to the Grand Seiko Sekki collection and are now crafted from Ever-Brilliant steel, a shift from the titanium used in the Shunbun and Taisetsu models. The case is mostly brushed, accented by Grand Seiko’s Zaratsu polishing, creating a striking contrast. A box-shaped sapphire crystal sits on top, with no surrounding bezel, and the watches are water-resistant up to 100 meters.

Most updates appear on the dials. The Rikka SBGH351 retains the same green hue and texture as its predecessor, but now features silver hands and applied markers instead of gold-colored ones. The Shūbun SBGH353 has a slightly different shade of blue, maintaining the silver hands and markers, while keeping the gold GS logo and central seconds hand.

Both models continue to run on the Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85, operating at 5Hz, with a 55-hour power reserve and an accuracy rating of +5/-3 seconds per day. Each watch comes on a matching steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

The Grand Seiko Heritage 62GS Hi-Beat SBGH351 Rikka and SBGH353 Shūbun will be available in February as part of the Grand Seiko Sekki collection, priced at €8,000. More details can be found on the Grand Seiko website.
